Mary'S Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. mace
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 c. sugar
    10 eggs, well beaten
    1 c. syrup
    1 lb. margarine
    1 lb. candied cherries
    1 lb. candied pineapple
    1 lb. mixed fruit
    1 lb. chopped dates
    1 lb. raisins
    2 qt. pecans
    1 pt. fig preserves
    1 small bag coconut
    1/2 c. orange juice
Preparation
    Mix fruit, coconut and nuts.
    Stir in eggs.
    Add part of flour and
    stir
    to
    coat.
    Add spices and baking powder to the remaining
    flour.
    Cream
    butter
    and sugar.
    Add other liquids and blend thoroughly.
    Add flour and mix well.
    Combine creamed mixture with fruit mixture. Bake in 2 greased tube pans at 250\u00b0 for 2
    1/2
    to 3 hours.
    Wrap cakes tightly and allow to mellow for a couple of weeks before serving.
