Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
3 rounded Tbsp. cornstarch
pinch of salt
2 c. milk
3 eggs
3 1/2 oz. can coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
butter or oleo
pie crust, baked
Preparation

Stir sugar, cornstarch and salt together.
Separate eggs. Pour the milk with the sugar mixture, saving a little to stir with egg yolks.
Add egg yolks into mixture; stir well. Cook until thickened. Remove from fire and add butter, vanilla and 1/2 can coconut.
Pour into baked pie shell.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Spread over pie.
Sprinkle rest of coconut on top. Put into oven and slightly brown coconut.
