6 Weeks Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. bran flakes or Raisin Bran
    4 c. all-bran
    2 c. boiling water
    1 qt. buttermilk
    1 c. shortening
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped nuts
    5 c. flour
    5 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Combine the first 3 ingredients; let stand a few minutes.
    Add the buttermilk.
    Cream together the shortening and sugar.
    Mix in the chopped nuts, flour, soda and salt.
    Combine and stir until just blended.
    Add the chopped dates.
    Pour into muffin tins and bake at 400\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Can be stored in fridge for 6 weeks.
