Poppy Seed Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    3/4 c. poppy seed, soaked in 3/4 c. milk overnight
    1/2 c. milk
    4 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add poppy seed.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Alternate flour mixture and 1/2 cup milk to creamed mixture, mixing well.
    Add beaten egg whites and vanilla.
    Pour in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 340\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
