Saul'S Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. golden raisins
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    In a saucepan over medium heat, combine raisins, sugar, cinnamon and water and bring to a boil for 5 minutes.
    Stir in the butter; set aside to cool.
    Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cloves and salt.
    Add flour mixture to cooled sugar-water mixture and mix well.
    Turn batter into lightly greased tube pan and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours or until cake tester comes out clean.
    Makes 10 to 12 servings.
