Apricot Ribbon Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. margarine
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    3 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 (10 oz.) jar apricot preserves
    1/4 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add flour; mix well.
    Press onto bottom of ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
    Bake for 20 minutes.
    Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Spread crust with preserves; cover with meringue.
    Sprinkle with nuts.
    Continue baking 20 to 25 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cut while warm.
    Makes approximately 2 dozen.
