Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Beat shortening and sugar until creamy. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly in a different bowl. Add to molasses mixture alternately with water. Beat after each addition. Pour batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar when done.
