Principal'S Coconut Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large eggs, separated
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. cornstarch
    2 c. sweet milk
    1/2 stick butter
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 c. coconut
    1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
Preparation
    Mix sugar and cornstarch well to prevent lumps.
    Add 1 cup milk, stirring constantly (dissolve all lumps).
    Add other cup of milk.
    (Use a very heavy saucepan.)
    Cook over moderately hot eye until mixture begins to thicken.
    Add well beaten egg yolks.
    Stir and cook until mixture thickens.
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter, vanilla and coconut.
    Mix well. Beat egg whites until peaks form. Add 4 tablespoons sugar.
    Beat for 30 seconds.
    Arrange on top of pie and bake until light brown.
