Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Measure and sift dry ingredients. Mix molasses and hot water. Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid. Beat after each addition. Bake in 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan at 350\u00b0. Makes 16 portions.
