Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    30 medium cucumbers
    8 medium onions
    2 green peppers
    2 red peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers;
    do not peel.
    Slice paper thin.
    Makes about 16\tcups.
    Cut peppers and onions up with cucumber.
    Put in pan. Sprinkle
    with
    salt and cover with crushed ice.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Wash and drain.
    Make pickling syrup of sugar and white vinegar.
    Add
    spices.
    Boil
    for
    5
    minutes.
    Add cucumbers, onions
    and
    peppers.
    Bring
    mixture to simmering point; do not boil.
    Pack in clean hot jars and seal at once.
