Shrimp Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 slices bacon
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 medium clove garlic, minced
1 can whole tomatoes, cut up
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1/4 tsp. liquid red pepper (Tabasco)
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 medium bay leaf
1 large carrot, thinly sliced
2 medium celery stalks, sliced
2 medium potatoes, cubed
2 tsp. salt
2 cans shrimp or 1 pkg. precooked shrimp
Preparation

Fry bacon until crisp, drain and crumble.
Saute onion and garlic in bacon drippings.
Add tomatoes and liquid.
Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp.
Cook to boiling point, reduce heat and simmer 40 minutes, with pot covered.
Add shrimp and cook until heated through.
Garnish servings with crumbled bacon (1/3 cup dry white wine may be added before serving). Yields 4 servings.
