Granny'S Caramel Nut Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft shortening (part butter, margarine or Crisco)
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. hickory nuts or pecans
Preparation
    Mix sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Stir in flour, salt and soda last.
    Then add nuts.
    Form into rolls (about 4) and chill overnight.
    Slice in 1/8-inch slices.
    Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 400\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
    Makes approximately 12 dozen.
