Corn Chowder Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    bacon or smoked sausage *
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
    2 medium potatoes, pared and diced (makes about 1 1/2 c.)
    1/2 c. water
    1 (17 oz.) can cream-style corn
    2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    butter or oleo
Preparation
    *Recipe calls for bacon, but we found we also like to use smoked sausage in place of the bacon for a change.
