Ingredients

1 1/2 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. sifted cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 (7 oz.) c. flaked coconut
Preparation

Beat shortening at medium speed.
Gradually add sugar, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Mix just until blended after each addition.
Stir in coconut.
Pour in greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 25 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
Let stand 15 minutes.
Remove from pan, cool on wire rack.
