Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 c. hot water
1 c. molasses
1 egg
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to butter mixture alternately with molasses. Beat well.
Add hot water last.
Mix well.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
Set on rack to cool.
While still warm, use spatula and spread with molasses.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Serve warm with lemon sauce, whipped cream or warm applesauce which is our favorite.
