Viennese Raspberry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites
    1 c. finely chopped almonds or walnuts, toasted
    1/3 c. raspberry, peach or apricot preserves
    1/3 c. margarine
    1 c. flour
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    2/3 c. sifted powdered sugar
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    In a medium mixing bowl, bring egg whites to room temperature. Set aside.
    For crust, in another medium mixing bowl, beat margarine with an electric mixer on medium-high speed about 30 seconds or until softened.
    Add about half the flour.
    Then add the sugar and egg yolks.
    Beat on medium-high speed until thoroughly combined.
    Stir in remaining flour.
    Press crust mixture into 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
