Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c shortening
    1 c sugar
    1 c applesauce
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 tbsp soda, dissolved in hot water
    2 c flour
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1/2 tsp ground cloves
    dash of salt
    1 c raisins
    1 c nutmeats
Preparation
    Cream Shortening, add sugar, applesauce, beaten egg.
    Sift a little flour over raisin and nuts.
    Sift remaining flour will seasonings and fold into applesauce mixture. Blend in soda and water.
    Then fold in raisins and nuts.
    Bake in greased 8 in square pan at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
    Cut in squares and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
