Light Creamy Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. butter, softened
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    5 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Mix well; spoon batter into prepared 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake tests done.
    Best with Coconut Pecan Frosting.
