Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cake layers (cake mix or from recipe to follow)
    1 large pkg. vanilla instant pudding (mix according to directions on box plus 1/2 cup milk)
    1 large can cherry or strawberry pie filling
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1 large cool whip
    1 large can crushed pineapple, drained
Preparation
    Crumble 1 cake layer into bottom of punch bowl.
    Layer 1/2 of all ingredients on crumbled cake.
    Repeat with second layer. Optional:
    garnish with sliced bananas (soaked in pineapple juice) and maraschino cherries.
