Smothered Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large chopped onion
    1 tomato, peeled and chopped
    1/2 c. oil
    2 lb. fresh, sliced okra
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Saute onions and tomatoes together in oil, about 2 or 3 minutes.
    Add okra, stir well and cook on medium heat in a partially covered pot, about 45 minutes or until okra is no longer slimy.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
