Old-Time Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 qt. popped corn
    2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Butter sides of saucepan.
    In pan, combine all ingredients, except vanilla.
    Cook to hard ball stage (250\u00b0 on candy thermometer).
    Remove from heat.
    Add vanilla.
    Pour slowly over popped corn.
    Butter hands lightly and shape into balls.
