Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. lentils
    1/4 lb. ham hock or smoked ham, diced
    1 small onion, minced
    1 stalk celery, diced
    1 clove garlic
    6 c. water
    3 carrots, diced
Preparation
    Rinse lentils.
    Combine all ingredients in a medium pot. Bring to boil. Then simmer until tender for about 2 hours.
    Season to taste with salt and pepper.
