Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    dash of salt
    2 stiffly beaten egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    First, stir sugar into corn syrup, water and salt until dissolved.
    Boil to medium ball stage (240\u00b0).
    Slowly pour 1/2 over 2 stiffly beaten egg whites, beating constantly.
    Second, cook remaining syrup to very hard ball stage.
    (Test a few drops in water.
    It should form a firm ribbon that bends when lifted from water.)
    Beat syrup into candy mixture, continue beating until stiff.
    Third, cool for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    When mixture holds its shape when dropped from spoon, add vanilla.
    Drop from teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
    Makes 4 dozen pieces.
