Ye Ole Waterford Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

4 to 5 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced (Granny Smith Winesap, etc.)
6 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
2 sticks butter or margarine
1/3 c. orange juice
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts (optional)

Preparation

Combine apples, sugar and cinnamon; let stand.
Cream butter and sugar until smooth; add eggs.
Alternate flour (combined with baking powder) and orange juice; add vanilla.
Batter should be on the thick side.
In humid weather, you may not need all of the juice.
Add nuts.
