Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    5 egg whites, beaten
    1 c. coconut
Preparation
    Cream 1/2 sugar with shortening and flavoring.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and milk.
    Beat egg whites and add remaining 1/2 sugar then fold into cake mixture after coconut has been added to cake mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until done.
