Zippy Barbecue Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, minced
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce
    1/2 c. cider vinegar
    2 tsp. crushed rosemary or oregano
    1 tsp. salt
    1 large clove garlic, minced (optional)
    1 c. dry red or white wine
    1/4 c. sugar
    2 tsp. each: Worcestershire sauce and hot pepper sauce
Preparation
    In small saucepan, saute onion and garlic in oil until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Simmer, uncovered, stirring often until slightly thickened.
    Turn into hot, sterilized wide-mouth bottles or jars; cover tightly.
    Use as basting sauce for pork or beef.
    Keeps refrigerated up to 4 weeks.
    Makes 2 1/2 cups.
