Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/4 c. green pepper
    3 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
    1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans (optional)
    salt to taste
    1 tsp. pepper
    3 tsp. chili powder
    1 medium bay leaf
    1 (4 oz.) jar mushrooms
Preparation
    Brown ground beef, onion and pepper.
    Drain.
    Return to pot; add tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, salt, pepper, chili powder and bay leaf.
    Simmer to boil; simmer 45 minutes.
