Scalded Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3 Tbsp. shortening or cooking oil
    boiling water
    1 egg
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Put oil or shortening in heavy skillet on top of stove.
    Get real hot.
    Pour boiling water over meat mixture until soupy; stir well.
    Add egg; beat well.
    Pour in hot grease.
    Let cook on top of stove until several air bubbles are in bread.
    Put in a 450\u00b0 oven; bake until lightly browned on top.
