Orange Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 pkg. dates
    1 Tbsp. orange rind
    1 c. chopped nuts
    2 sticks butter
    3 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. orange juice
Preparation
    Chop dates; add boiling water and let cool.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time; mix well.
    Add orange rind and juice to date and water mixture.
    Sift flour, soda and salt together.
    Blend date mixture into creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients.
    Add nuts.
    Beat egg whites and fold into cake batter.
    Pour into floured 10-inch tube pan.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
