Sopaipillas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast (1 Tbsp.)
    1/4 c. water (100~)
    3/4 c. scalded milk
    6 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    3 c. flour
Preparation
    Soften yeast in warm water (100\u00b0).
    Combine milk, sugar and shortening; add salt.
    Cool to lukewarm and add yeast and egg. Gradually stir in flour; mix until smooth.
    Let rise until double in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Roll on floured surface until very thin.
    Cut into shapes with a knife and deep fry in fat* until golden brown.
    Roll in sugar and cinnamon or powdered sugar.
