Date Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. chopped dates
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cover dates with boiling water.
Cool to lukewarm.
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Beat well. Add date mixture, then sifted dry ingredients.
Beat well.
Add nuts.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0 in 9 x 13 x 2-inch well-greased and floured pan.
