Alsotian Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (No. 2) can sauerkraut
    1 small whole peeled onion
    1/2 bay leaf
    2 whole cloves
    6 peppercorns
    2 oz. gin or Canadian whiskey
    1/2 c. dry white table wine
    4 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Secure the bay leaf to whole onion with 2 whole cloves and bury in the kraut in a saucepan.
    Add peppercorns, liquor, white wine and butter.
    Cover and simmer gently about 15 minutes. Remove onion.
