Easy Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 (6 oz.) can (2/3 c.) evaporated milk
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    dash of salt
    1 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
    1/4 lb. (about 22) regular marshmallows, quartered
    1/2 c. broken walnuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In heavy 2-quart saucepan, combine the first 4 ingredients. Bring to boiling over medium heat; cook to soft ball stage, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat.
    Immediately add chocolate bits and marshmallows.
    Stir until chocolate and marshmallows are melted.
    Stir in nuts and vanilla.
    Spread into a buttered 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Cool; cut into squares.
