Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 to 4 tsp. cocoa
    2 1/2 c. cake flour, sifted
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream sugar, shortening and vanilla.
    Add one egg at a time; beat well.
    Make paste of food coloring and cocoa.
    Add to sugar mixture.
    Sift flour and salt.
    Add flour and buttermilk alternately, a little at a time, mixing well after each addition. Begin and end with flour.
    Combine vinegar and soda; add to batter. Pour into 2 (8-inch) pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until cakes tests done.
    Let cool and split layers.
