Beatrice Griffin'S Dutch Lettuce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large bunch leaf lettuce or 1 head iceberg lettuce
    1/2 c. chopped green onions
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    shake of pepper
    4 or 5 strips bacon, diced, fried and drained (reserve drippings)
    hot bacon fat
Preparation
    Cut lettuce.
    Add onions.
    Add sugar, salt, vinegar and pepper to hot drippings quickly, all at once.
    Pour over lettuce and onions.
    Serve at once.
