Thanksgiving Apple Salad(Serves 8) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. heavy cream
    1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained
    1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
    3 to 4 large red apples, diced
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 c. halved maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Stir together the sugar and flour. Whisk in the cream. Pour the cream mixture into a heavy non-aluminum saucepan. Continue mixing. Add the pineapple and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens. Add the butter; remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool. When cooled, add the apples, nuts and cherries and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
