English Toffee Christmas Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 1/2 lb. brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 lb. milk chocolate, melted (optional)
Preparation
    In an iron skillet, mix the sugar, butter and salt together. Bring to a boil and boil to a hard crack stage (300\u00b0 on a candy thermometer).
    Stir constantly so it won't burn.
    When hard crack stage is reached, pour toffee onto cookie sheets.
    In the winter place outside until it hardens.
    Bring in and pour melted chocolate over.
    When chocolate is set, break toffee into serving pieces.
    Store in tightly covered tin.
