Mother'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter or shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. hot water
1 c. molasses
Preparation

Cream together butter and sugar.
Add beaten egg. Measure and sift dry ingredients.
Combine molasses and water.
Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the liquid mixture, a small amount at a time.
Beat after each addition until smooth.
Pour batter into a 9 x 11 x 2-inch pan that has been lined with waxed paper.
Bake for 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
