London Tea Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. buttermilk
    1 can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cream together sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla.
    Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt and buttermilk.
    Mix until soft dough forms.
    Take 2/3 of dough and roll 1/4-inch thick in greased 11 x 14-inch pan.
    Spread pie filling on top of dough.
    Roll out remaining 1/3 of dough.
    Cut in strips with pastry wheel, crisscross on filling.
    Brush with one egg yolk and small amount of milk beaten together.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
