Ingredients

2 c. milk
1/4 c. Karo syrup
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
9-inch baked pie crust
Preparation

Scald 1 3/4 cups milk with Karo in top of double boiler over boiling water.
Blend cornstarch and remaining 1/4 cup milk in small bowl.
Mix in sugar and salt.
Add egg yolks and beat until well blended.
Add quickly, all at once, to scalded milk and stir constantly until thickened.
Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer. Remove from heat; add vanilla.
Cool.
Pour into baked pie crust. Cover with meringue and bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes until brown.
