Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
1/4 c. cold water
1 tsp. butter
1 c. unsalted raw peanuts (small Spanish preferred)
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 level tsp. soda
Preparation

Boil sugar, syrup and water until thread is spun on spoon, about 238\u00b0.
Add butter, peanuts and vanilla.
Cook until peanuts begin popping, about 290\u00b0.
Remove from heat.
Add soda and stir quickly.
Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet with sides.
When cold, break by hitting the candy with a metal tablespoon.
Do all stirring with a wooden spoon.
