Cherry Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. red candied cherries
    4 c. chopped pecans
    3 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 c. oleo
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. ground mace
    8 eggs, separated
    1/3 c. orange juice
Preparation
    Combine cherries, pecans and 1/4 cup flour; set aside.
    Cream oleo, 2 cups sugar and mace until light and fluffy.
    Add egg yolks, 2 at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add remaining flour alternately with orange juice to creamed mixture. Add cherries and mix.
    Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
    Fold egg whites into batter.
