Date Nut Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. Karo syrup
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 c. dates, chopped
    1 c. chopped nuts
    3/4 c. sifted flour
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Beat eggs, salt and almond extract.
    Beat until light. Gradually beat in sugar and syrup.
    Add dates and nuts.
    Mix well. Fold in sifted flour.
    Pour into 2 greased 8-inch square cake pans.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are brown. Remove from oven and, while hot, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. Shape into small balls.
    Roll in powdered sugar.
    Makes 40 cookies.
