Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 or 5 green tomatoes
1/3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
dash of pepper (optional)
1/4 tsp. dried crushed basil or oregano
1/4 c. shortening
Preparation

Remove stem ends from tomatoes.
Slice in 1/2-inch slices. Combine flour, salt, pepper and basil or oregano.
Coat tomato slices with flour mixture.
Saute quickly in hot shortening until brown on one side, then turn.
Reduce heat.
Cook until soft. Remove to platter.
Serve immediately.
