Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

4 c. milk
4 eggs, separated
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. cornstarch

Preparation

Heat milk in double boiler; add egg yolks and sugar (reserve egg whites for meringue).
Make a paste using a little water and cornstarch.
Mix paste into milk mixture and add vanilla.
Stir constantly until very thick.
Add coconut to mixture (amount desired).
Pour filling into baked deep dish pie shells, cover with meringue and sprinkle peaks with coconut.
Bake at 375\u00b0 just until it turns a little brown.
