Mammy'S Fried Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    stew dried apples, peaches or apricots, drained and sweetened
    plain pastry
Preparation
    Roll pastry 1/8-inch thick.
    Cut 4-inch circles or squares. Place a spoonful of the filling on half.
    Moisten the edge with cold water.
    Fold over and press the edges firmly together.
    Fry in deep fat like doughnuts or saute with a little fat in a hot frying pan, turning the pie so that it will brown on both sides.
    These are good with fillings of mincemeat or any thick jam or preserve.
