Maggie'S Beet Top Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. beet tops, young and washed
    2 bunches onion tops, cut into 1-inch pieces
    3 carrots, chopped small
    2 medium potatoes, diced small
    1 c. uncooked rice
    1 dill head or 2 tsp. dill weed
    1 tsp. basil
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 qt. water
    1 can evaporated milk
Preparation
    Combine everything except milk in large kettle.
    Simmer slowly for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until vegetables are tender.
    When done, add 1 can evaporated milk.
    Add extra water if needed.
    Beat tops, green onions and dill.
    May be frozen when in season for winter use.
