Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. uncooked oatmeal
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Pour water over oatmeal and let stand 20 minutes.
    Mix as for regular cake.
    Add oatmeal before adding flour.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 40 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
