Southern Banana Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (4 oz.) pkg. vanilla pudding
    2 1/2 c. milk
    2 egg yolks, beaten well
    30 to 35 vanilla wafers
    2 large bananas, sliced
    dash of salt
    1/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Stir pudding mix into milk in medium saucepan.
    Add yolks.
    Stirring constantly, cook on medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Arrange layer of cookies on bottom and up sides of 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
    Add 1 layer of bananas; top with 1/3 of pudding.
    Repeat layers, ending with pudding.
    Beat egg whites and salt in medium bowl with electric mixer on high until foamy.
    Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
    Spoon onto pudding, sealing edges well.
    Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until meringue is lightly browned.
