Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head cabbage, shredded (if desired)
    1 onion, chopped
    5 Tbsp. butter
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
    8 oz. process American cheese, cubed
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 small can Durkee French fried onions
Preparation
    Cook cabbage in boiling salt water until tender; drain thoroughly.
    In a large skillet, saute onion in butter until tender.
    Add soup and mix well.
    Add cheese; heat and stir until melted.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper. Transfer to an ungreased 2-quart baking dish.
    Sprinkle Durkee onions on top.
    Bake, uncovered, 20 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0 or until heated through.
